The brief
Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council needed a robust, low-maintenance playground built to withstand constant public use.
What we built
Palm Island sits off the coast north of Townsville, so this 2019 project for Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council involved getting equipment and an install team across the water. We delivered an Adventure Climber Series structure, a double swing set, a spinning carousel and a set of spring riders — a turtle, a fish and a whale. Every element was certified to AS 4685 with compliant AS 4422 softfall.
The result
The result is a robust public playground built to handle constant community use. The mix of climbing, swinging, spinning and spring riders gives Palm Island children of different ages something to do at once. From design to installation, the whole project was handled in-house by our team, and it is one of our more remote council installs in North Queensland. Completed in 2019, it is built for island conditions.
